You need the http bit in front of the link to the con website - otherwise it gets interpreted as a relative link on LJ.

That's almost on top of me! I live about half an hour from Canterbury, and the GMNT was born there! I also did my MA there. My local uni!

Well it will be awesome fun (and I am sure have wide range of corsetry going on :p). If you're into Harry Potter at all you should consider coming (and spread the word ;) )

Dunno about a corset, but I'm the right age to sport Professor McGonigall's hat!

Oh, 2011! No wonder I was getting confussed (to borrow your sister's word) not getting the dates to match. Er, a week after which last thing?

This also explains why I was thunking "I didn't know HPatDH-1 was released yet (last I heard it's due the end of this year)"...

I haven't been back to UKC for around 25 years, and have never seen University Halls (it didn't exist when I was there). Hmm. Would I be the only BOF there? Is the Ball a formal tux type thing? (Black I can do *g*...)

(How did you becoming a chair happen? Magic, it's one of the transformation spells. In the SCA we called it "insufficient reluctance", also known as "didn't run fast enough" *g*...)

Last film. I was slightly dead when I wrong this post and do tend to have an issue with wondering words.

I didn't know you were at UKC! The halls are pretty nice and very central to the rest of stuff. I'm not sure what BOF means, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be the only one (if you even are one, whiuch I may dispute based on it's definition). The ball is everything from t shirt and jeans to full on muggle and wizard formalwear.

I'm still wondering how it happened, I think maybe someone zapped me when I wasn't looking at eastercon.

I graduated from UKC in 1978, well before several of the concom were born *g*. BOF is "Boring Old Fart" (or other things starting with F!), the middle word is at least accurate...

I was in Eliot college, and was in (and sometimes on) UKC Radio (which at the time was in the same college). Hmm, which one is University Halls, or is that a generic for all of them? I don't see anything with that name on the maps (http://www.kent.ac.uk/maps/canterbury/index.html), although I do see far more buildings than I remember. Some things seem to still be in the same places.

OK, t-shirt and jeans I can do, I can even do white shirt and black tie (normal, not bow). Jackets, however, I do only under protest because I overheat way too quickly.
