In winter the Sussex East Area Meeting convenes by Zoom, which isn't as jolly as us all being together in one particular place.  I make a point of trying to enjoy Business Meetings and not complain about them afterwards but II'll concede that there aren't too many laffs

We have an Area Meeting on Zoom this afternoon. They're usually OK and I do attend the Zoom ones whereas I'm not keen on a 1.5 hour drive to a face-to-face meeting, with of course another 1.5 hours back in the dark.

Another advantage of Zoom meetings is that it's possible to knit whilst listening. I actually concentrate better if I'm doing something with my hands.

I enjoy meeting up with Friends on their home turf, seeing what space they have to work with and what the ambience is. You don't get that with Zoom.

We were discussing that very point this afternoon. Having said that, we only have two Meetings for Business a year on Zoom. The third is face-to-face and all the Faith and Practice meetings are in person, hosted by different local meetings in turn.

Ah yes I remember the plague days the character called Deputy Dawg would be berating vendors and his kid would be practicing the saxophone (badly) in the background.

Frankly I don't much like using Zoom. I can see the arguments for it but I still think it's second best.....

People watching is and always will be a favorite pastime of mine. I sat in Second Cup (one of my favorite coffee shops) in Toronto one afternoon for about three hours, watching out the window onto Yonge Street. I had a pad of paper in front of me, but really I was just interested in watching.

It's something writers do- if they're looking for material- go out into some public space and just watch and listen.

The cats are sometimes the best part of Zoom calls.
