I don't see what the big deal is...it's just four properties he owns. There are vegan restaurants and vegan resorts and vegan spas, what's so wrong with wanting to create a mini vegan/vegetarian community? If a meat eater wants to find a place to live in Wales, just rent from someone else...

Menh...I guess it might seem silly, but it's a matter of wanting to live with people of similar lifestyles. Some people don't care (I don't mind living with meat eaters, as long as meaty dishes get washed thoroughly before I use them). Other people are more picky. It would be like a really strict kosher person living with someone who wasn't kosher at all--it just might cause problems between roommates.

So as much as I'm not one to care that much, it's not much different than wanting to live with people who have the same level of cleanliness.

It makes me mad when my dad is grilling and he flips my veggie burger with the same spatula that he flips the hamburgers. I imagine it's the same concept, on a grander scale.
