[It's actually not all that uncommon for Poland to forget his journal is on. He leaves it open, but he never really does anything that's a big deal so nothing embarrassing happens.

I think that's a good way to think. Just because it's a fish doesn't make it's life any less important than our own. I think each life is unique and important too.
