//022// Action for Billy; Love is Stupid

May 03, 2009 18:47

Prince Dorrek VIII knocked politely on the door to the room Prince William had claimed for himself in the small apartment. It was unlike any kind of residence Dorrek had stayed in before, but it suited their purpose for the time being and was easily defensible. His conversation with Xavin-who-was-not-Xavin had left him even more confused and ( Read more... )

The amount of work that it had taken to get Rictor to not butt in was ridiculous. Even now he knows that the guard is probably sitting in the front room, waiting, knowing that if there is a problem that William will call him.

Besides he knows that Dorrek wouldn't hurt him. That would be stupid. Not quite as stupid as William feels right now - he had lost his temper, and he's still a bit angry at all the implications that had been laid at his feet. First off, it wasn't that he didn't like the Skrull Prince - because he did - but it was that it wasn't exactly proper, was it?

He opens the door and he can't help but keep the scowl on his face. "Come in," he says, moving slightly away from the door to give Dorrek the room he needed.

He sits down on the chair with a dark feeling brooding over him, his spine ramrod straight.

It would take a lot for Dorrek to even think about harming William, and even then he wouldn't for fear of ruining Skrull-Human relations. His duty to his people would always come before any personal desires. Any personal desires.

The scowling look on William's face was enough to erase any last hopes Dorrek had. He followed him into the room, closing the door behind him, and stood standing with his hands carefully clasped behind his back.

Keeping his face blank, he stared at some point over William's left shoulder and said in the humblest tone he could manage, "Prince William, I wish to once again repeat my apologies if any of my actions thus far offended you in any way. I also apologize on behalf of my bodyguard, though he appears not to be the same person I know. I should hope it shall not interfere with any further political discussions between our two empires".

William is silent, for a moment. His family is rather prone to fits of temper - just look at his grandfather for an example of that, but the fact that there was no lightning, no blue arching lights, all that was a good sign. Anyone who knew the Prince knew that his anger manifested in a loss of control. Right now, he was just cranky. Thomas would know. Thomas would also not hesitate to tease him out of it.

The words are perfect and diplomatic and they ring true, and William's temper is at the point that it chases a good deal of the awkwardness from his bearing. All that's left is the Prince, and the prince knows exactly what he wants. "You have not offended me," he says, his eyes flickering upwards to look at the Skrull. "I thought we were getting to be very good friends."

He wishes for a moment that he could articulate this without the need to fall back into the formal lapsing speech that his Grandfather and Uncle trained into him. "Your bodyguard's....indiscretion angered me, I'll admit. But you have not."

Dorrek relaxes a little when William seems to accept his apology, but the "friends" stings. It seems like he had been expecting too much, but he manages to meet William's eyes for a moment and allow a weak little smile.

"I am... glad you still wish to be friends. And that I did not offend you. I was told that human culture discourages relationships between individuals of the same sex, Xavin should have been more sensitive."
