Home Children was the child migration scheme founded by Annie MacPherson in 1869, under which more than 100,000 children were sent from the United Kingdom to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa.
I hadn't known about Home Children; thank you for the link. Reminds me of the Orphan Train Movement in the US. (Which wasn't intended to turn out as such obvious servitude, but often did anyway.)
And of course you must know about the Japanese internment camps during WWII. (Which reminds me of this. Also, Takei's Twitter is worth following -- and not just for the political stuff -- whether you have a Twitter or not, which I don't.)
