Do you not watch news? It was mentioned in there a couple of weeks ago. LJ is creating an owner of all the comms, the owner will be the only one who can remove other mods, rename or delete the comm. The fun bit is in deciding who the owner is. The reason there's so many emails coming is because with all the SH comms, there's three main mods - me, you and Cyn - and none of us created the comm so we have to decide who will be the main person in charge of it. And SH has a LOT of sub-comms! What happens to comms who regularly change mods is beyond me.
It was a fic in which Harry divorces Ginny and falls in love with his lawyer Malfoy. The scene I was reading was near the end and they were having porridge for breakfast. Very sedate and calm and no sexy business at all.
I don't really check my flist much at all, but I did remove news when I first had lj as it was never ending. I see the point of having an owner, but perhaps not so much for the comms like SH that are run by several - esp if one of us decides to permanently leave. It's making the whole thing feel a bit more like fb groups.
news updates on a weekly basis now, thanks to our Russian Overlords and it has been quite informative of late about changes and things. I think there's a lot of comms where having one owner just doesn't work. There's several I'm in which are always having mod elections and none of them are now moderated by the original creator. I don't know what will happen there if the owner then steps down as mod. Maybe LJ will reconsider the owner thing when they start getting emails about changing communities owners...
