"The only water in the forest is the river." Moffat, I spent the entire episode with my inner Sherlock yelling obvious, but kudos to having planned everything out so far in advance ( Read more... )

He'd planned some of it in 1995 according to an archived post found in Google Groups. But yes, it was really obvious, and not any kind of cliffhanger at all. Although it did rather make me ask where the war was because I must have missed that bit.

I'm not sure about the regenerating because she didn't regenerate in the Library so can she regenerate or not? And the whole thing raises so many questions, like why didn't the Doctor ever notice she has Time Lord/Lady DNA if they can sense each other? And she knows his name too, is that because she has the DNA or because of some future intimate relationship?

I've thought from the second she said about killing the best man she had ever known that it was the Doctor.

PS Did you notice the name of the Cockney servant girl with whassername? I was surprised, unless it was intentional.

Servant girl, I can't remember right now but it did strike me at the time. *googles* Jenny... I can't find it! I even attempted to skim iplayer for it.

I've just been on Moffat's twitter and he says 8 year olds should have been able to guess about River. But yes, that wasn't so much a war as a rolling over and letting them in. I suppose it was all for the poem really. Unless it is a war which has just started, we are going to see Hitler next after all...

You'd think the TARDIS might have pinged time lord dna when River was around before. Maybe Alex Kingston is her last regeneration, and/or half-halfs have fewer.

Her name is only said once, I think, when Madame wassername enters the house.

Maybe the war does come in the next bit. The title alone of that makes me nervous. It's such a touchy subject and although I know Doctor Who would never do anything too offensive, I never thought they'd have a storyline about using a baby as a weapon either...

Since when does the TARDIS tell the Doctor anything? ;)

Oh, something I wanted to know that I'd forgotten about: why on Earth is the Doctor carrying his old cot round with him, and what does it say on it that indicates who River is????

I think she just called her Jenny then, I thought it was when there was fighting and that's why some people missed it. I'll watch it ALL the way through and not jump, less chance of missing it again.

The scan said Amy was pg/not-pg, it might have said "Ho, a half-time lord. Hello."

I imagine the TARDIS contains all sorts of stored things, but how did he get it when he didn't get the TARDIS til Gallifrey was being destroyed? Did he go back in time to pack up his house?Maybe it doesn't say who River is, maybe it says the Doctor's real name in Gallifreyan, since River knows it. Only choice is to learn Gallifreyan to find out.
