Oh, and Leia will insist that we got lost, but I merely had to get my bearings straight. Once I did, we found the parking garage easily. She'll prolly mention that, but just ignore her, she's being crazy, men do not get lost :P
Cold war...
It sounds awesome. I am a bit dissapointed about the geeks thing though. I mean... it's a symphony not a convention. Not that I have a problem with people dressing up, I just think that when it comes to just sitting there and listening to music, you should leave the obsessiveness at home. It sort of makes people feel that you can't enjoy the music unless you love the game too, when the music is awesome without having to be a fanboy.
I'm worried about the Star Wars concert in Toronto now...
I didn't have a problem with the geeks, and the people I spoke with didn't either. It was amusing I think, for many of them. On one hand, I'd agree with you. But I don't think any harm was done, and I think the performers actually enjoyed more than the standard golf clap.
Well I definitely like more than the polite clapping...
I won't argue your point because I don't think you'd understand where I'm coming from. I just think just like the wrestling fans who don't know it's fake, it hurts the real fans... it's a symphony, not a convention.

Well anytime you go somewhere new and foreign, you don't know where you are :P
But once I got my bearings, we were there no problemo. No doubt, it's due to the man's high iron count that gives him a much better sense of direction. Definitely! :P
I remember reading about this in one of your first posts after friending you, and then I forgot to keep checking if there'd be a concert in my area. Maybe I should have just bitten the bullet and made the 4+ hour drive.
I'm glad to hear One Winged Angel was the encore as well, because they really can't do a performance without that (well, they could... but I think the hardcore geek fans would riot).
Orchestral harps are massive. I'd be scared to see a harp player larger than their instrument.
As for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Kim wants to see that this weekend. Which means we will be paying full price. I like some of Tim Burton's stuff, but I just can't get all that optimistic about it for some reason.
I'm really surprised there's no Toronto show, but it turns out it was pretty limited. As far as I can tell, they only did 8 shows, and not in the biggest spots. They did Minneapolis and Hartford, but not Boston or Philly or even NYC. Weird.
Man, the hardcore geeks were out. It was fun. I had no idea the harp was that big though. You always see those lil cherubs running around with tiny ones. But yeesh.
I think if you forget the first movie exists, you could probably enjoy the remake. Of course that's not exactly easily done.
Perhaps. I have no clue what a regular symphony crowd is like :P :) I may end up going one day to compare (Leia wants to go again). So maybe I'll have some point of reference. Maybe it's just the stereotypes that exist about symphony crowds, but I doubt they were as loud and fun as this crowd was

But in a way, it's also inspirational to see people so passionate about something. Even if it is being a geek :P

The parking garage was a bit of an issue, but once I got my bearings, it was all good :P
