It's going on midnight, and I can't sleep because of achievement tests. Tomorrow begins the 2007 round of FCATs (Florida Comprehensive Achievement Tests). No, I don't take them, but my students do take them. Why can't I sleep? My subject area isn't even being tested tomorrow. Silly, sleepless me.

When we CAT tested while I was teaching, it was the most relaxing week of the year for me. Sure, I had to organize and test four to five different groupings of students at varying paces, but it required minimal prep, little afterschool busy-work, more time for my personal projects, and bonding time with coworkers. Not to mention it put the students to sleep, making discipline that much easier...

Sorry for your sleeplessness. Have fun with the rote time-management and superfluous quantitative judging...
