I have put this poll behind a cut. The subject matter concerns the death of a loved one. I understand and appreciate that this may be a painful subject for those who may have experienced this in their lives, and if this subject is apt to trigger painful memories for you, please ignore this post and don't go behind the cut.

I really can't choose one or the other - I think for most people dying, a quick death is usually preferable, but I'd also guess a lot of loved ones appreciate the chance to say goodbye to the person who dies.
My mom died from cancer, and it would have been easier for her to go quickly, even if it would have been tougher for us not to have been able say goodbye.
I guess imo it comes down to suffering and pain - I'd like to think most people would rather have their loved one leave than stay in suffering.

i put know in advance, but i have to qualify that. agonizing pain or some other intolerable misery would make me want to speed up my exit. otherwise, i could use the time to do things like rehome my fuzzy children, simplify my financials and belongings for those who follow, and read a few more books. 😄

i answered as if for me, but basically the same would be true for others as well.

Well, Ken.. as you know.. i went thru many deaths in the 90's.. both are very tragic to the ones left behind..

I would want a quick sudden death.. but to those left behind.. the grief for sudden deaths i think is worse..
