Related entries

I've recently been in the habit of using the 'Show other entries related to this post' function when posting on LiveJournal. I've used it for no other reason than that it exists, but I'm wondering if it actually serves any useful purpose or if people find the lists of related posts irritating and off-putting?

I had no idea that was an option when posting! I've seen it on your posts but I thought it was your layout/journal style. I think it's useful for when I want to look through similar tags.

I only thought about using it when I saw someone who used to be on my friends-list doing the related posts thing, but I don't want to keep doing it if people find it annoying or distracting. Anyway, I'll wait and see what the majority opinion is before I decide to keep the related posts or do away with them.

I don't think I have ever seen this option.

It's directly under the text-entry box on mine, but maybe it's only available on the old LiveJournal layout? I'm still using the original S1 version.

i couldn't really answer your last two questions. i either have tuned it out or most people i've followed don't use it. i didn't know it was a thing, so i have never been annoyed or amused by it.

Perhaps I should post screenshots for the benefit of those who don't have this option when posting updates. I just assumed that everyone on LJ had it, but maybe it's only a feature of the original LiveJournal format, which I'm still using.
