I think that if someone is given a second chance, he should take it. All that matters is that he really wants to use it and change for the better.

I'm not saying you should lie. If you're sincere in the way you change, I don't think it's a lie anyway.

I know bad things happen here, but there are good things to balance it out. There are a lot more good people than bad ones, for instance.

... Sometimes, there are good lies. Like white lies. Or just not telling the entire truth.

But... telling lies, can just get you into more trouble down the road. Even if they are white, or leaving out details.

I don't see anything wrong with taking this as an opportunity to start over, as a better person, but I don't think lying is the right way of doing that.

If you hide your past, then yes, it is a lie.

But the point is not to hide the past, but to admit to your wrongs and learn from those mistakes, making efforts to make better choices.
