Polychromatic, Monochromatic

Hello there, Polychromatic~!!

Have you noticed the calendar? Have you, have you? It seems there's a plot afoot!

Tomorrow night (Tuesday): a visitor will arrive in our multicolored, polychromatic City!

Descending from on high, sealed in a mystical white Egg that seems both hard shell and soft flesh, a strange visitor from another time or place or space will come into the City. The Egg will descend from the sky to balance above the Carousel for several hours on Tuesday, spinning and pulsating gently, as though about to give birth to whoever or whatever lies within it. At the appointed time (the Eastern-time midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday), the One within the Egg will emerge: a color thief... Yes, that's right!

This color thief will set about reverting all colors to the most basic: Black and White and Shades of Gray, leaving the once Polychromatic City a Monochromatic City. The City will resemble a black-and-white film when the thief has finished.

But the City is polychromatic, not monochromatic, as well we all know! What can you, you Citizens, do? It all comes down to how you feel. Your emotions, Citizens, will restore color to the City and drive back the thief! What? Emotions for colors? Sure, think about it!

You might see red. Orange you glad you're unique? Don't act like a yellow-bellied chicken. Some people are green with envy. You sometimes get the blues. We're all magical children. So wear your nobility proudly.

After the colors are completely gone by Wednesday night, characters' emotions can then help to restore color to the City bit by bit. Any time a citizen feels a surge of emotion, of whatever sort, that feeling will help color (the real, proper color of things, not just black and white) to filter back in to the surroundings, little by little, like watercolors spilling in and gradually strengthening. This method will take some time to restore proper color to the whole City. But the Citizens aren't on their own where getting color back is concerned. There'll be some helping hands along the way. So stay tuned!

A couple of notes:

If you choose to have your character opt out of this plot, your character can keep his or her colors with no other side-effects. However, the City at large is still going black-and-white-with-gray.

Characters outside the Barriers will keep their colors and nothing around them will lose its color. In fact, Citizens in the City who look out past the Barriers offshore will be able to see that the water and sky beyond are still blue.

This all begins on Tuesday night with the Egg's arrival, though nothing will happen yet... At midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Egg will open and the thief will start working (there's more to this than meets the eye, too). By Wednesday night, the colors are gone gone gone. Thursday--? Thursday, characters can start the work of colorizing the City! But watch for more details and announcements!
