You haven't found the right guy yet. You'll know when you do. Keep looking. And yes, the bedside manor and atmosphere of the hospital are important. This is probably the biggest decision you will ever have to make. It's ok to want to be comfortable with it on all levels.

One thing my dad asked all the surgeons we saw was, "If it was your daughter/wife/mother, what would you do?" This kind of surgery might be routine to them, but it's not to you.

Thinking of you still.

Wow, so many things to address.

My NS was a complete pill before I got to know him better as a person. BUT when I mentioned that to one of the nurses, she said he was the best NS on staff there or anywhere else in the city. It was at the very moment that I did not give a flying rats what his personality was because he was VERY good at this chosen profession, something I deemed VERY important because my brain tumor was endangering my life. And after my surgery, after getting to know him as a human being, he really is an awesome human being and an even better surgeon.

I think another consult would be a good idea. Is it too big for "closed brain" surgery. I am pretty sure that Mayo has a SRS machine and facility. Just something to consider.
