I think cross-contamination is pretty common with most nuts, so that generally means that no nuts are safe, AFAIK.
I found out a few months ago that Simon is allergic to salmon, which is an allergy I've never heard of. Thankfully it was a pretty mild reaction (some hives that went away after not too long, no hospital trip necessary, thank goodness). And he'd really liked salmon, too. He's been totally fine with crab cheese wontons in the past, so it's not shellfish. I didn't even know people had fish allergies that weren't shellfish!
From what I've read so far, there are allergies for everything. Food has proteins that make it food. We can be allergic to any particular one. I have a friend who is allergic to spinach.
And yeah, not nuts at all until we get a full testing. After that it's very careful and very rare to any that she isn't allergic to, as many plants that nuts are processed in process lots of different kinds.
