I finally got in touch with Dad.  As predicted, he had no idea that his phone was misbehaving, or why.  He's going to call Verizon tomorrow morning to try to work it out; he's still not up on the idea that the modern business world runs 24/7.  That last is OK; I can deal with it

I have found that although many businesses staff their telephone lines on the weekends, the quality of help rendered during non business hours can be sub par. We were just advised by the weekend help to call the Staples direct mail department during regular business hours to get someone who could quote prices.

I hope your experience with RepresentUs is more fruitful than mine has been. Nice folks, but pretty useless in helping my campaign.
