... A few people are being escorted to the high school, where I am, while others have been trapped outside. I think... one of the apartment buildings collapsed in that last earthquake. I am very worried for my friends, wondering if they are all okay...

.. There are plenty of capable fighters here--I'm sure at least a few of your friends are included. If there's a positive trait to this God-forsaken place, it's that everyone takes care of one another.
I'm sure they'll be alright.

Yes, you're right... I know that a few of my friends are able to fight, and it makes me feel better knowing that they are safe and trying to help the others who are trapped outside. I need to believe in them.
But... I heard that it was Marshall that had collapsed in, and one of my friends was living on the first floor of that building. I just saw him yesterday and... I'm so afraid of what might have happened.

Hope, in situations such as these, is far more useful than fear, miss. I'm sure your friend would agree.
If nothing else, take solace in the fact that he'll be returned to you eventually.
