As pixiecup pointed out, tonight (well, tomorrow morning) is the Winter Solstice.

What are you doing on the longest night of the year?

I actually remembered it was the Solstice and lit a few candles and drank some wine, hopefully that will apease whatever gods and goddesses that were hanging around. I was thinking about sacrificing that freaking rooster that lives in my neighbourhood...
