Ah, Spring.

It's a lovely day. The sun is shining. The birds are singing. My camelias are blooming, and they smell lovely.

Days like this make me miss Cedric Diggory. This afternoon, when my last class is finished, I am going to sit outside the greenhouse with some iced tea, enjoying the aforementioned camelias. Would anyone care to join me ( Read more... )

My project proceeds apace, I suppose, Professor. Even if I am still not entirely certain why it was required for me and for no other student, it proceeds.

I'm having more trouble looking up information on poisons than I'd believe, and I would like to talk to you about, perhaps, sharpening the focus of this project a touch. Since this is a Herbology project, I think that it would likely be more to the point to describe matters related to plants which produce given poisons, and the effects of said substances, however, rather than the productions of the poisons in question.

However, any feedback you have would be helpful. Thank you very much, Professor.

Suppose you were to pick a family of plants. For example, there are many thousands of plant-based poisons, but not all of those come from fungi. If you were to look at common growing conditions, combined with uses in a magical and medical context, you'd have a more refined subject. Does that help?

I suppose it does, at that.

I was also planning mostly to focus on more local plants, to around here and around Northern England...I believe I already mentioned this bit, in actuality...so perhaps I could also move in mostly on plants I could collect easily now. That would go in on the growing conditions, and also allow me a springing-off point for my presentation.

Would that be acceptable?

Ah, so you were. That'll do quite well, Mr Boot. Let me know if you turn up anything interesting.

Miss Weasley, thank you for checking in. Have you any questions for me? Ask away, if so.

If you need access to more... esoteric texts for your research, let me know.
