Well, I'm sorry to hear that.

Just remember that, whatever happens, you've brought it on yourself... Furthermore, bear in mind that I only torment you because I care. The truth of this statement will likely not become apparent for at least twenty years... Nonetheless remember it.

If you really cared then you'd understand my point. There's no way that I can be assured that I won't meet a very horrible death whilst going to class outside.

I'm exactly who they want dead. Why should I take that risk?

Let me put it plainly, since you're so very insistent. I've lost three children since I've taught here, dear boys all. I do not care what it takes to keep you safe. THEY WILL NOT HAVE ANOTHER. Do you understand that? I want you to come to class because, if I can see you, I can keep you safe. My life for yours, Mr Finch-Fletchley. Simple as that. Take the risk because we all do. Because a life lived hidden is a life they've already taken from you. Because you're needed out in the world.

And beyond that, I don't know what to tell you.

Yes, I am quite free; let me know when you'd like to meet. Would you mind terribly coming to my quarters? I've some ideas drafted up and I'd prefer not to carry them around the castle.

Are you saying it doesn't try your patience at times?

That's not what I'm saying at all. It is trying, sometimes. What I mean is that you could have done it, too.
