Oh I hope you document your switch to vegan somewhat! I'm a pesko-ovo-lacto and want to take some of those out but fear bad nutritional choices on my part. What do you use as your source for protein? Lotsa nuts? I LOVE nuts. any suggestions for trimming down?

plant protein! pomoprincess August 26 2003, 14:54:40 UTC

tofu, tofu, tofu...nut butters, nuts, beans and rice, chickpeas, hummus..there is so much good stuff out there that's chock full of protein.

try this site for a huge number of recipes.

good luck with the vegan-ness... cbear1 August 26 2003, 12:34:44 UTC
I, on the other hand, have started eating fish a lot more regularly. I need protein. I don't ever buy fish at the store though, because it's too expensive. Oh, except canned tuna.

glad to hear you're not taking the drug anymore... I noticed it was making you feel a little strange. Hope you can work something else out though.

I would die if I were ever on a drug that took away my appetite. noooo!

i find that i'm a lot more concious of how much protein i'm getting when i'm eating vegan..i'm much more likely to make sure i'm getting enough.

if i was doing as much running as you are, i'm sure i'd be shoveling down truckloads of tofu! hehe.

yay!

i've been vegan for quite a while. i get really excited when people say they are going vegan. i think it is one of the best things that you can do for your body and for the world and for lots of other stuff too. i know it's hard to make any diet changes when you've had the eating disorder experience, but you will be good. good luck!

it makes me so happy. i just feel a lot calmer and...at peace with myself and the world, if that makes sense. i was vegan for about 9 months last year, but i had a relapse (which wasn't 100% related to me being vegan, but oh well) and so i made myself stop.

it feels good to be back..we'll have to swap recipes sometime.

oh yes! have you tried to make cheesy sauce out of nutritional yeast flakes? it is SO good! you can make macaroni and cheese, and pizza, and stuff with it... oh man. i'm so glad i discoered it. i can give you the recipie if you don't have it. and... do you have the cookbook "how it all vegan"? if not... gotta do that shit. buy it online right now! it has so many good muffin and cake and bread and stuff recipies...

Wow...the guy that got impaled...Finias Gage? I saw something about him in highschool psych class.

ANYwho..

Congratulations on the vegan thing.
I wish I could do that because it sounds so healthy, but alas...my morals are not so strong.
