i am sleepy and subway is good and i'm trying to read but it's harrrrddd to concentrate. and i invited this girl to coffee and i'm hoping she'll email me back. because who doesn't email back? (???)

i have the attention span of a goldfish.

Hello -- I just saw your comment in Radicalteacher's journal, but didn't really want to converse with you by her journal, thought that might be rude.

I'm John, and I'm also in the midst of the application process for TFA.

Also very into postmodernism and a vegan to boot. At least from common interests, it seems we might have things to talk about.

What's your major, and why are you looking into TFA for next year?

yay! i'm glad you took the time to comment..i'm a studio art major, although i have strong backgrounds in literature, queer/womens/gender studies, and history.

basically, my reasons for wanting to do TFA stem from my interest in activism, specifically queer activism. with my coming out came a very strong sense of social responsibility, and i guess my drive to educate stems from that. i realize my role in TFA isn't likely to be so specific, but i just..want to make kids aware of certain issues and expose them to critical thinking.

I'm a music education major, but sometime last year I had become so involved in social activism and philosophy that teaching didn't feel like where i was going to end up. It was less of a realization that I don't want to teach than a realization that I don't have to -- since I had grown up, since third grade or so, wanting to be a teacher ( ... )
