I'd always enjoyed collecting pre-war (be that pre-WWI or -WWII) picture books and postcards...it didn't really occur to me to grab street-level maps too, just the ones I got out of old issues of National Geographic.

That's cool. I have paper maps of Paris, Budapest, Salzburg, and Wienne. I use them for when I write.

I always try to bring home maps from cities I've been to, as some sort of souvenir.

That sort of cognitive dissonance features in Alistair Reynolds' Century Rain, when a character is given a map of Paris: "Where are all the expressways?"
