Don't forget that in Chapter 1 Harry was Hagrid's baby or teddy.

I guess you could probably spin a whole Harry = One of Hagrid's Monsters theory out of this observation. Especially if you accept the claim that Hagrid sees himself in all his monster projects. He'll certainly admit later that he sees himself in Harry.
