Yeah, worse than useless is just that - not a lack but a pain in the butt! Good for you for ordering parts to get the problem FIXED.
Suggestion re installation, unless you or someone in your household is skilled enough at DIY to do it yourselves... find out whether there's a Consumers Checkbook for your area. It's similar to Consumer Reports but LOCAL and for SERVICES not products. I've had excellent luck with using the Puget Sound version, and it has both print and online components. I decided it was well worth the $30 or so annual subscription cost.
Good luck with the fix-it-RIGHT projects! I know you know it's a PITA to go through them, but so great when they *are* done and one's nest is as cozy as one could wish!
Thanks. We're lucky to have a membership in Angi's List here in Columbus (there isn't one in Victoria) and I'll be calling the plumber I used to solve our water filtration mess last year. The kitchen undersink had a very comprehensive collection of filters and tubes and valves that were designed to filter the water to the fridge and the kitchen sink. The filters were plugged past capacity and the nice plumber had no more idea of what type of filters would replace it than I did as all identifying markings and labels had been removed. I had the guy rip it ALL out and just give me non leaking, reliable plumbing to the sink. Cut the Fridge right out of the water loop and solved the 5 million icecubes problem at the same time.... apparently this was the neighbourhood show home and the buyer was a plumber who upgraded everything into obscurity :)
Oh the homeowner blues, you should write a song about it. (Ohooo the sinkerator's jammed but the pump still works and the utility sink's too smallllll....the toilet's got a crack in it and I can't take it all.....) You get the drift. I have the window guys coming this afternoon with a quote to replace 9 windows. Then call the electrician to see about replacing my outdated wall heater system. Then the fence dude to quote on finishing the rest of fence so it all looks the same. I have a feeling this is going to be expensive. Miss you guys. Love A
I'm going to have to get you to ghost write my next big hit!!!
:)
I'm still working out how to move Columbus to the Pacific Northwest... so far the plans are stuck in the hypothetical but unlikely setting. It's the land mass between the two that is causing problems :)
Since we sometimes have spiders visit our bathroom, "spider crack" just gave me the wrong image entirely. (Bad spider, stay away from that street junk!)
