I CANT PLAY SPORE

Jun 17, 2008 22:43

my video card apparently is not good enough ... what do I do? I know literally nothing about graphics cards at all, much less what to do about getting one ... is it something I can even put in my computer? How much is it? WHat is a chipset ... ??? Help anyone?

Maybe I can help a bit, what sort of computer are you on and what operating system (windows, mac, etc.)?

Hmmm... that doesn't bode too well. I'd check if the processor is fast enough. What does it say your cpu or processor speed is (in Gigahertz)? Spore needs 2.0 Gigahertz to play ( ... )

Video cards aren't all that complicated but even if we, The Internet, told you what to buy you'd probably be uncomfortable installing it yourself. Either get a computer-savvy friend to help you out or take it in to a shop that does that sort of thing. I recommend the former, much cheaper!

Video cards look a bit like a small sheet of metal with circuitry on and fins and a fan attached (hopefully), the correct one will slot right in to your computer. They can cost anywhere between $100 - $1000 dollars (kind of guesstimating that since I'm not familiar with the American market), depending on how high end you want to go. @_@ You'll probably want one around the $300 mark, I think? Maybe a tad more and prices vary depending where you buy from as well.

hey, thanks gigantically ... so much! I wonder if it wouldn't be cheaper just to get another piece of crap computer only for running spore? HA!

isn't that tough... subscribe to sites like techforless.com and even tigerdirect... they have "barebone systems" that aren't much on hard drive space but that usually have all you need. Sometimes they have deals right around $200 for a not-shabby setup.

Sorry I told you about it without... well, without you being equipped first. I'm sorta running it on a barely-there setup. My processor isn't quite 2ghz but it's a laptop so maybe it's being more efficient... or I'm just forcing it to die sooner :)

hmm, not much HD space as in 28 gigs or less or 2 gigs? My dilemma is mostly just with the video card .. processor looks ok.
