Let's Kill Hitler!

Aug 27, 2011 20:30

OK, so you know how after A Good Man Goes To War they flashed up Let's Kill Hitler as a title and your already too-full-of-wow brain loudly went twang?

IT IS DOING THAT A LOT RIGHT NOW.

I'm going to have to watch it again, because I watched it with my parents, and my mum pulled faces all the way through and got up and crashed around the kitchen a bit, and my dad kept telling the dog it was rubbish and she was right to snore. I suppose the giving him her regenerations thing solves the 13 and he's done problem too?

My friend Jooody went to the DW thing in London the other day, and she saw a little boy wearing a tweed jacket and braces and a bow tie and a fez. She also said that what made it even better was that her mum had no idea what it was meant to be, and thought it was just an odd child and how on earth did the mother let him go out like that?

Haha! to the small child-related bafflement. There are, apparently, portions of the populace who do not insta-grin in recognition at the fez. Who knew.

I hate the Christmas episodes for precisely that 'with other people who don't get it' reason. Grr - and def rewatch, it was so chockfull of stuffs! And they fixed the regenerations thing already in... er... The Doctor's Wife, maybe? Or the last Xmas one? One of them. They've basically said he can have as many as he likes now, of which I approve.

Hello! How are you?

Oh did they? (fix it I mean) - I missed that! It all gets a bit fast and complicated for an old lady like me sometimes.

I did not like River being all girly and weigh-y and clothes-y, that was just odd and rubbish. But I mostly enjoyed the rest, as far as I could tell.

Hello hello! I am well (busy though) despite potentially going blind or having a menopause or something odd. I suppose I ought to post really.

Shut up, Hitler!' Rory rocked so hard this week. I love him anyway but he is so surprised by himself rocking that it still feels like a surprise to us too.

*dances you* Yes! Yes! Oh, Rory! And the flashback bit with the penny dropping and Amy all "You're gay" and Rory with the deer-in-the-headlights look. And, well, just every scene with them really.

Robot!Amy got to be doubly creepy because shrunken!Amy was panicking inside and that sort of came through in Robot!Amy's speech, but it was still flatter ad therefore creepier.

Also, totally precedented by Mawdryn Undead. And shhhh re: Donna, she's totally kicking arse out there because that canon DID NOT HAPPEN. Ahem.

I will happily go along with the non-canonical Donna, yes. I expect Luke fixed it or something. Sarah Jane (who is not dead, also) probably spends a good chunk of each week mending stuff that Ten fucked up, like balancing your cheque book.

The thing with Rory is that quite a lot of why I love his stuff so much is Amy's responses to his stuff. They are so amazing together. And yes, Any-within-Amy totally added to the whole thing! Tops.

Heeee! I want to read this fic now. Sarah Jane huffing and mildly aggravated, Luke delighted at the opportunity to muck about some more, and I think K9's tail has to droop at some point because his Master is just so bad at this sort of thing.

They really are fabulous together, aren't they? And they've just grown more fabulous together, particularly in conjunction with Eleven's awesomeness. GO TEAM TARDIS.

*blanks on The State of Grace thing as it relates to Earthshock*

I didn't mind the "going shopping" bit so much, because that scene called for a totally frivolous line, but the weighing herself bit was obnoxious (like girls don't already have enough issues with body image? seriously?).

But oh, 'twas such a lovely ep, in the balance! The utter epiphany for River/Melody, when the TARDIS teaches her -- Alex did such a wonderful job with that scene.

And Rory. Oh, what can I say about Rory, to capture how much I love his pure heart that carries him through even when his mind is imploding at the thought of putting Hitler (HITLER!) into a cupboard, and his innocent daughter, whom he's known since she was a wee bairn, but not seen since she was a newborn, is presented to him as a very adult assassin? Oh, how I love Rory...

A Cyberman fires a gun inside the TARDIS in Earthshock. I seem to recall some hoohah.

It was really, madly lovely. 'Shut up, Hitler!' and then putting him in a cupboard is so the only way a Who episode with Hitler in should ever, ever go. Such glee. And yes, there's so much heartbreaking stuff in the background of all the knockabout pacy fun, that you only get to afterwards - like how exactly they are meant to feel as parents, and how they've been sort of schooled by their own kid their entire lives, and how she basically got them together in the first place so OH LOOK MY BRAIN IS BROKEN.

So pleased.
