First of all, fuck the motherfucking Port Authority. That is the impetus behind this upcoming rant.

THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED IN THE PAST MONTH INVOLVING ME AND THE PORT AUTHORITY OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY:

You should take the four-letter words out (or not) and send it to the head of Port Authority, and maybe even Joe Grata (the PG's Transit writer), who today wrote about Pennsylvania transit needing a "reform school". . . . .

I ride the bus in the Twin Cities and I can tell you... I SO FEEL YOU.

Why are busses early? That's fucking bullshit.

And why do creepymen like to find the one little girl and go for her? ARGH

Oh, and PS, does it rain A LOT there, or are those just worse than nice days outside for 2 hours?

it does rain a lot here---IIRC, more than in Seattle---but it's also a Murphy's Law thing: on the one nice day we're allowed per month, either (a) we have things to do, or for some other reason are inside all day, and don't notice; (b) our friends are around and available and can give us rides; or (c) the bus actually comes exactly on time for once.

yeah the PAT is motherfucking evil. my roommate takes the 64A to work every day, which is already a terribly infrequent bus and only runs every 40 minutes. unfortunately, it has the habbit of often being EITHER 20 minutes late OR early. so in theory you could arrive to the bus stop 15 minutes early, still miss it cause it came 20 minutes early, and wait for the next bus, which may be 20 minutes late. now you are spending an hour and a half waiting for a bus.

sometimes its better to walk. even if its really far and the weather is bad.

The 64A is a terrible bus! I used to take that on occasion when I lived in Squirrel Hill. Even worse than its lateness and shittiness were the crazy old people on the bus. Two incidents stand out in my memory:

1) An old man goes to get on the bus. The driver looks at him and says "You went to the bathroom this time, right?"
"Yeah, I did this time."
"You better not be lyin', 'cause we don't want what happened LAST TIME to happen again, RIGHT?"

2) An old man gets off the bus, screaming at us for being too close to him (we were like fifteen feet away from him.) His jacket flipped open, to reveal a MASSIVE revolver in a shoulder holster.
