I've realised that as far as downloading things and discovering new music goes, I've become very stagnant and closeminded. So to fix this, I'm going to ask you all to recommend one song for me to download, whatever you're into at the moment, anything so long as it's not Britney or Nelly or Avril or something. i'm probably the wrong person to ask for "new" music as i have pretty scattered and obscure taste in music.... as you already know, i guess.

hrm... but here's a couple of things that might be new listening for you.

for some rad acoustic guitar tunes you can't go past bob brozman. it's not just that usual "guitar songwriter" business, this guy is really creative..

something a bit more mellow and electronic, let's go with anything by b(if)tek.

hrm.. for something totally out there, see if you can find anything by an obscure german group called Scrawl (ska-metal or jazz-grindcore, or whatever they call it these days, but not naff like Brisbane's "John Lee Spider")...

i could suggest anything by frank zappa, but you'd think i'm a bit of a goose.. if you only get one song by frank zappa ... try "the gumbo variations". pretty impressive musicality there ( ... )

i'm going to rec you some MR songs. ;)

1) "Venus in Furs" by the Velvet Underground. this is such a "Dance of the Seven Veils" type song, and there may be fic to it at some point.

2) "My Guitar" by Jump, Little Children. a really fun song, and it's becoming the James/Sirius anthem for MR? i think the scene will be in the next part of the epic?

3) "Ain't No Good" by Cake. the inspiration for the fic in the diner, another really fun song.
