I know! :( I wish I knew what was going on. The laptop seemed fine when I powered it down Tuesday night.

But how are things where you are?

I wish I had more of a clue for you! Basically, I would be hitting the google and calling my techie friends. Better yet, driving the machine to them. Hope it works out for you.

I like CCleaner. It's free. It cleans junk and has a registry cleaner too. I have downloaded it in safemode in the past to the desktop after the kids got viruses to make sure they were gone from the registry. I also use it for weekly cleaning/maint on all my computers.

Good luck! ♥

Most laptops have a recovery mode you can run, which restores your computer to the state it was in when you bought it. HOWEVER, sometimes that can basically wipe your harddrive clean of everything except the originally installed software. I've done it numerous times, and my newer laptops have had recovery systems that didn't delete all your shit. They either give you a recovery disk in the original packaging, or it's a program in the tools section, which you can access in safe mode.

I'd start it in safe mode and run anti-virus software and adaware or spybot or something, see if that helps. I *think* those can be run in safe mode, but I could be wrong. Safe mode is super bare bones and isn't capable of running everything.

If you have a tool that saves your system periodically every so often, you can set your computer back to a point where it was running well. (recovery manager in windows)

Ack! Good luck. That really sucks. It's so frustrating!

If you've recently installed any new software or downloads, it may be that it's running at start-up and you're laptop isn't happy about it (usually a conflict with another programme). You can start up in safe mode and check which programs run at start up via your control panel, depending on which OS you're using. But cleaning the registry CCleaner is a great idea too. Good luck!
