Hrm. Could it be... Satan?!?! - Healthy Depersonalization - Part II

In Deepak Chopra's latest blog, he posts about Washington Post On Faith: Satan’s Last Gasp where he closes by saying, "Satan is a projection of human fear, anger, and guilt. He used to be such a major projection that he dominated psychological life. In an age of faith, Satan held a monopoly on evil. Now our minds have expanded, light has been shone on every level of the psyche, and a great change occurred. Satan stopped being strong because we stopped needing him so much. We took responsibility for evil away from him, and although it’s hard to face the fact that human evil trumps supernatural evil a hundred to one, the good news is that being human, it’s something we can heal."

Of course I replied:
But for some of us who cannot seem to break repeating bad patterns or thought cycles, it can be easier and more productive, and allow us to stop and refocus quicker by labeling a thing as evil, an external influence, and then move on.

Otherwise we can spend hours within the moment, trying to find root cause what lies within, even spiraling downward, making little progress within ourselves, denying ourselves the ability and the empowerment of being able to just label it, be done with it, and turn our attention to more productive thoughts.

We can still spend time in meditation later on what the root cause is that makes us susceptible to these particular temptations and patterns, thus not denying our self-improvement. But after the moment, and not when we are all caught up when we can truly utilize the assistance of the depersonalization that the "satan" concept provides.
