The song I would like for you to associate with me is one you will probably never heard on the radio and may well have never heard before. It's an instrumental by the Alan Parsons Project (Alan Parsons is my favorite musician), and it's called "Mammagamma". I shall give you a copy of it if you want, through IM or whatever. I can send it as an .mp3 or as a CD file. Why? Well, it's my favorite tune of all time, and it's rather obscure unless you're familiar with Parsons or at least his best-known albom from which it comes (though not among the radio-released songs from it). He even recently remixed it BIG-TIME in a more heavy electronica-shredded style, but I still like the original better. "Mammagamma" is rhythmic and peaceful yet upbeat and energetic, and it has a nice flowing tune that repeats but doesn't get stale. When I was young, it reminded me of an image of an Arabian horse running in the desert in full moonlight, and it still kinda feels that way to me. :-)
There are songs that I associate with myself...but those are my songs for me...and not necessarily things I need or want other people to hear first when they think about me. So..in the context of you..I think the song is Ice Cream, by Sarah McLachlan...because it's whimsical and fun enough that it appeals to me...and is just the right mix of ease and frustration. Also, it's about two people. I know I'm an individual, but when you're thinking of Me...I'd like it to be in the context of Us
( ... )
Hm. I think I would like for you to associate me with "Whistling in the Dark" by They Might Be Giants. Because we sang it in the car, and it was fabulous.
If that isn't good enough then, "Joyful Girl" by Ani DeFranco. I can't send it to you, but here is a sample of the lyrics:
I do it for the joy it brings because I am a joyful girl because the world owes me nothing and we owe eachother the world
