Well I have a surprise. The start of a screenplay.
BEATING

The time is present. The place is the Ft. Lauderdale area in
Florida.
INT. BLOOD BATH BED ROOM - DAY
VAN BALDWIN, 32 and RONAN, 31 kick open the door to a small
dark bedroom. Light bleeding threw the curtains slightly
lighting up the room. Van and Ronan, covered the noses as the
smell of blood reaches them. Van finger hits the light
switch, as the dim light come on a woman's body is shown. Her
body sprawled on the wall, a nail in each limb holding her
up. Blood still slowly dripped down her body into a pool of
blood on the floor, her chest sliced open with guts hanging
onto the floor. A deep sigh comes from Van.
FADE TO:
INT. VAN'S OFFICE - DAY
Van's sits behind his desk, his face unshaven and casual
clothing on.
VAN (V.O.)
I'm Van Baldwin, a private eye. I
use to work for the Miami PD till I
was fired about year ago. Now I
spend my time in this dump, another
hot Tuesday morning in Ft.
Lauderdale and not a customer in
weeks.
Van's eyes almost close to sleep as the office door is opened
by HENRY SHANKS.
HENRY
Mr. Baldwin?
VAN
Yes, and who are you?
HENRY
Oh, Sorry. I'm Henry Baldwin.
Henry walks in, shaking hands with Van and sits down.
VAN
How can I help you today Mr.
Shanks?
HENRY
It's about my wife.
VAN (V.O.)
(frustrated)
Oh great, another man who thinks
his wife is cheating on him. I do
these cases about twice a month.
VAN (CONT'D)
And you think she is cheating on
you?
HENRY
Not at all, I think someone might
be trying to kill her.
VAN (V.O.)
(happy)
When I worked for the Miami PD I
was a homicide investigator and
just hearing about a killer makes
me somewhat joyful.
(disappointed)
But there was one thing I had to
ask first.
VAN (CONT'D)
Shouldn't you go to the police on
this matter?
HENRY
Well, I have and they said they
couldn't do anything, those stupid
cops.
Van pulls out a pad of paper and a pen.
VAN
Alright let's get started then. Now
why do you believe that someone is
trying to kill your wife?
HENRY
The other week my wife was out and
was attacked by someone, and
managed to escape, and now for the
past week our alarm has
'accidentally' gone off two times
in the past week.
VAN
I see, and do you have anything
else that will help me out at the
moment?
HENRY
No, that's about it. By the way,
what is your fee?
VAN
My normal fee is $250 up front,
once I know what I am dealing with
we can set up a fee for the rest.
Henry stands up pulling out his wallet taking out a business
card and $500.
HENRY
Here something to start with and
give me a call when you have
something.
Van gets up, walking Henry to door.
HENRY (CONT'D)
One more thing, do you know of any
body guards?
VAN
Actually I have a really good
buddy, I'll give him a call.
HENRY
Thank you Mr. Baldwin.
Henry walked out the door. Van read the business card saying
'Henry Shanks CEO of World Corp.'
VAN (V.O.)
World Corp. the worlds largest
transporter and Henry Shanks was
the riches man in Ft. Lauderdale.
Looks like I found the right man to
work for.
