Oh the very recent tax price hike shook a lot of smokers out of the designated smoking area. That was a freakish overnight rise in price. But the tax has been rising steadily for years, and that was never reason number one before. But the recent tax hike plus the recession -- yeah, has caused some people to quit -- and other people to get creative -- ever heard of "e-cigs"?
Frankly now that the FDA is in charge of tobacco, I fully expect they will completely outlaw tobacco in just a few years, or even sooner. You'd think with my asthma I'd be happy about this, (the no-smoking laws really have improved my life...I can't lie) but I actually see it as a precedent for a huge threat to all kinds of personal liberties. Just because no smoking ordinances are better for me, doesn't mean they are fair to everyone.
I think they're fair to everyone. Smoking kills people. Smoke in seclusion like a pariah for all I care, but not near me.
I hate it when I'm out fighting and some damn fool lights up on the edge of the field. I have to ingest his cancer. That's just rude. I have asthma too, and I exercise to control it. I don't need to be stricken with their stink.
Oy vey! I should know better talking about smoking with an ex smoker! You are all extremely bitter about it and mean toward current smokers. Val hasn't smoked in 15 years, and you should hear him get started on it! So should we also legislate THE SAME WAY against perfumes, deodorant, and diesel fumes? and don't get me started about how perfume, deodorant and diesel fumes don't cause cancer-- because there's evidence that they might. Moreover I think the cigarette companies should be hung out to dry over all the crap in cigarettes, but I am not talking about the tobacco

"diet industrial complex" G! I like that one, I'm going to use it! Totally agreed -- the idea that every single fat person could be thin is ludicrous. The idea that every fat person should be thin is monstrous
