Probably this has already been posted here, but I'm sure it's worth repeating. If you are receiving any social services benefits, in some states, you can also get a free cell phone with 68 minutes per month on it. Hmm, they are offering it in my area. It's too bad I'm on a family plan with my inlaws and I'd use up that 68 minutes in no time flat even if it was just me. :P (No land line.)

WIC is available for children under 5 and breastfeeding or pregnant women. If you go to health services or human services, they can also give you lists of churches, community groups, and other groups that offer food, clothing, support, etc. for free or that are income-based.
