i always wanted it too! it'd have to be safe though (i.e. sea worthy) or your home would be on the bottom of lake ontario.

i see yatchs moored all along harborfront. i wouldn't say they're squatters but if they're living there beside H20 Park, then i guess its legal.

real houseboats are expensive, but i think if you found a hull (maybe even on ebay!) you could build your own boat from scratch. an old barge might be a good foundation. they have house barges in holland and europe.

My sister lives on a boat and she pays rent for the dock where the boat is moored. I think the rent includes things like water hook-up and garbage collection but I'd have to ask her.

There are people that live on boats near the beaches. They pay dock fees (rent). It's a great idea but it won't be free.
