It's a holiday, I'm not at work! Yay! Here are some drawings I've finally scraped together. Just... faces mostly, because I'm terrible.
Some development for my Changeling game character; she's a Nocker:
This was the first sketch, and while it's rougher than the others, I think it still has the best sense of the personality I wanted to portray.
Looking at this now, I realize that the proportions of her head is really off, augh wow. But at least the coloration is basically what I was going for. (All Changeling characters have a human and a fey appearance, so I wanted to see if I could have a design that made sense for both aspects.)
Now for some Shepards, trying to simplify them into a cartoony style:
L-R: John, B's first/main Shep (Paragon, Infiltrator, Colonist, War Hero). Macska, my character (Renegade, Vanguard, Earthborn, Ruthless). And Anastasia, B's new alt Shep (Paragon, Soldier, Spacer, Sole Survivor). I was also going to draw each Shep's love interest (Tali, Thane, and Garrus, respectively), but I didn't want to draw all those crazy alien faces again. Maybe another time.
On a different note, I've been thinking about
Johannes Cabal the Necromancer, a really fantastic book that Pirate gave me as a birthday/Christmas present. It's one of those things that feels suspiciously as though it was written for me. Ill-tempered scientist with zero social skills makes a deal with the devil and has to run a diabolical carnival? WELL OK! Needless to say, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I had a very clear idea of the title character and wanted to see if I could draw him out.
Hrm, not really.
Better, but still not quite? (Incidentally, those glasses are described in the book, and I've actually seen them in a museum. So I'm not just making it up!)
That profile is no good, but the rest is getting close.
I might have to take another stab at this, and also try drawing Cabal's brother as well. Lots of good stuff in this book. And apparently there are other books in the series, so I'm looking forward to reading those.
I've really got to start doing more full-body drawings, more anatomical studies, maybe more practicing with reference. It still seems like I've having to relearn a lot of things and I'd better stop being so lazy! Goal for next sketchpost: less floating heads, more actual pictures.
