The news gets more depressing every day

Yes, double post day from me.

Thousands of children go missing every year. Most are found safe and well. Some, tragically, are not.

When a child goes missing the most vital time is the first twenty-four hours. It's also vital to get the news out, with accurate descriptions of the child, where they were last seen, and what they were wearing ( Read more... )

Yes, over here, in missing persons reports something unusual about the person or their appearance in question is always mentioned. An average (Dutch) six-year-old is 120 centimetres tall (that's also quite a big difference with what you've found!) so there was a crucial bit of information missing or a crucial typo/misunderstanding. 'Though from reading a few news articles, I have a bad feeling that particular info won't matter any more. That poor poor girl.

Well the answer was from WikiAnswers, so maybe taken from figures of poorly-nourished Americans rather than strapping North Europeans! :)
