Arrow 3x01 and other TV
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.
I mean honestly, I knew that someday Sara was going to die. For some fucked-up reason the producers cannot seem to see the walking disaster that is Katie Cassidy and Laurel, and seem determine to shoehorn her into the Black Canary role despite the fact that everyone I know cannot stand the character. I swear that maniacal grin she had on the roof when they had their final scene together should have clued me up - it's the same one she was wearing when she got the jacket at the end of S2. Jesus H fucking Christ on a lollipop stick.
What made it really insulting though was the manner of her death. A top assassin murdered in cold blood then thrown, basically, into a dumpster, her mask pretty much landing at her sister's feet (gee, now Laurel has the mask and the jacket - I suggested on PTV that she's probably got a shrine in her apartment with all the crap she's accumulated from Sara's life) is just fucking disrespectful to both the character of Sara Lance and to Caity Lotz, who busted a gut creating a damaged, believable woman who was trying to be a hero.
The irony is they pretty had another spin-off lined up - put Lotz with Katrina Law's Nyssa Al-Ghul and the improving Jessica Du Guow's Huntress, add an Oracle (is Alison Mack free?) and you have a great ensemble Birds of Prey.
Well that dream got thrown off a roof.
It's so awful that it completely overshadows the awesome (until Oliver inevitably fucked it up with his manpain) Olicity stuff and the Diggle/Lyla/Digglette cuteness.
So onto the Great British Bakeoff, which I watched the last few episodes of via the VPN with my sister.
So I completely got the result wrong - I would have thought that Nancy was the least likely to win (Richard's consistency and Luis's spectacular presentation would have put them ahead) but it shows just how much I know since she was a worthy winner. I loved how over-the-moon Chetna was about the result, heh.
I did actually bake scones, so I guess I was sort of inspired. Choux pastry continues to elude me, perhaps my dark fantasies about Paul Hollywood giving me a few lessons will result in something...
I keep meaning to watch Gotham but frankly I'm over gritty superhero reboots (I am not remotely looking forward to the Batman vs Superman movie) and Arrow had better start getting less depressing, stat. Thank god for The Flash is all I can say.
