Keeping up with the Jones.

Has it really been a year?

So with Arrow having an atrocious S3 by all accounts (I gave up watching entirely after the last episode I reviewed, S3E5) I was floundering around for things to watch and then Marvel decided to start making some bloody good TV.  First Daredevil, then Agent Carter (or is it vice versa?), both top-notch shows worth of ( Read more... )

Most of the show was too brutal - and the pull factor too reliant on shock and drawn-out tension - to make me want to see it all again any time soon.
This is what's kept me from watching it so far. I think I'd like it in some ways but yeah, the brutal and lack of humour to balance it out just a bit might just mean I'm going to have to pass and stick with Agent Carter. Even if it means missing out on Claire/Rosario Dawson *sadface*

(Hey you! It's nice to see you posting! :))

Good to be posting :)

Agent Carter is just so damn awesome - can't wait for Season 2.

I really enjoyed Jessica Jones and wasn't bothered by the relentless grimdark brutality, but that may have been because I read the comics that its based on and knew what tone to expect going in. I haven't watched Daredevil (the closest I ever got to reading DD was TMNT!) but I will probably try to see Luke Cage, if only because of my lingering fondness for the old Heroes for Hire comics :)

What did you think of the actor playing Luke? I've seen mixed responses. I think "good-looking but can he carry a show?" but then I would probably have said the same of Stephen Amell if I'd seen him in a similar role prior to Arrow.

I didn't have any problem with him in JJ but it didn't really give him a great deal of opportunity to show what he could do beyond looking good. In Heroes for Hire Power Man was always the straight guy to Iron Fist's more comedic role and I can see this actor doing that OK, but I think the Danny Rand in the MCU is rather different from the one in the comics and I'm not even sure if he's going to be in Luke's show.
