That so-called "MAP" of yours is the thing that is the SHAM, my friend.
It purports to be a map of "elevated lines" -- yet dashed lines are used to indicate tracks which are "on surface or in open cut". How, I ask, can a line which is AT or BELOW GROUND LEVEL be "elevated"???
And check the right side of the map -- there is a segment labeled "Cypress Hills Line", despite the fact that "Insane In The Brain" would not be released until MORE THAN EIGHTY YEARS after the date on the map! How can that be???
As I'm sure you know, the dotted lines are the remnants of the original Coney Island steam train lines. Those areas of Brooklyn were not heavily populated at the time so there was no reason to build elevated tracks. After the Brooklyn Rapid Transit company took control of these lines in the very early 20th century, they became part of the system commonly referred to as the Brooklyn elevated railway. While technically not above ground level, it would be odd not to show them on a map of the Brooklyn El since they were part of the same system. Thus the dotted lines are a way of denoting the difference between these former "excursion" lines and the truly elevated parts.
On the other hand, you're absolutely spot on about Cypress Hills Lane. So clearly, the map is a fake, but an extremely clever one. Kudos to you for catching that little anachronism.
You...you know who I am. But you don't...know why....I'm here.

Just dropping in to let you know I've crawled out of my hole. I assume you delisted me on LJ because I hadn't posted in like a year or something, since we have no heat that I'm aware of.
Anyway, if you want to keep up with the ol' LG on LJ, you know what ta do. Mang.
