We didn't take the high speed rail. (50 SGD from taichung to taipei) The normal rail is not bad actually, it only takes about 1.5 hrs only. Quite comfortable too.

there are yang mei trees lining the pedestrial path back to my apartment in Japan and they are in season now. Last year, i did pick up some of the fruits from the floor and they are very sweet!

haha, we did spend 1 night in Wu Lai when i was in TW too. The hot springs are nice, but the typhoon destroyed the tram path and the only way to get up was to take a cab (expensive!!) so we skipped it. we got bored quickly and decided that Wu Lai = Wu Liao (boring)
