Sony stuff is good. Just make sure it has the most MP that you can afford, because that is important and make sure that you can get zoom. Other than that, I wouldn't worry too much. A big memory card--that you'll have to get seperately.

No problem.

Kate is right though, if you aren't using it for large pics, then REALLY high MP isn't necessary. I use 5 and it works nicely. I was assuming that you were using it for like artsy stuff, so at least make it decent.

I am pretty sure the memory card was under $100. But I got a 256, so it depends on how much memory you want. Plus, my camera took memory sticks and not cards, and I don't really remember, but that seemed more expensive at the time.

thank you so much for commenting, i was hoping you would! & i'm glad you talked about the megapixel thing, i thought it had an impact on image quality and that less megapixels meant that the images wouldn't turn out well even if they were small. i'm so relieved that i can get a good image even if i can't go all out and get an 8mp or anything.

you are in a commercial, i think, but it's a very helpful one, so it's all good.

ps - i know this probably sounds really cheesy, but i love looking at all the pictures you post. it's part of what makes me want to learn more about how to use photos to work with painting.
