No where to go, no one to call

I woke up today and found a piece of popcorn stuck in my cell phone where the charger plugs in. In trying to fish it out with a comb, I managed to mangle and completely fuck up the phone, and now it won't charge at all. Since it's out of battery, it is officially dead and I'll have to get a new one. Does anyone know what happens when you buy a new ( Read more... )

Most cell phone companies (not sure which you have) can transfer your number to another phone without a problem. Generally, they do this with a SIM card that is in your phone (unless you have sprint or nextel or something). You don't have to get a new contract, but usually if you sign to prolong your contract, the phone will be MUCH MUCH cheaper.. otherwise, you're going to pay quite a lot. It also depends on how long you've been on contract and how long you've had your phone.. etc etc

Hey Matt-chew, I had the same thing happen to me (well, sans popcorn). The outlet where I am supposed to be able to charge my phone broke and it was completely out of battery. Anyway, I took it to the Cingular store and pretended like I had no idea what happened...and had to buy a new phone. Since I didn't re-new my contract, I had to pay full price so I just bought the cheapest phone and it has been working out well thus far. Let me know how it goes!

I extended my contract and got a free phone. At first I bought a really expensive phone from Radioshack because I thought I would have to pay more a month, but I passed a T Mobile stand on my way out of the mall and the guy told me I could get a free phone and not have to pay more. So I returned the phone and got a free one.
