That's a normal and a very common thing. Typically, when things start going wrong for me, or I have work/friends/relationship troubles, my gut feeling is to make dramatic life changes. I think it's a normal reaction, but not always for the best.
I think you should stick around for a while - only because I'm selfish and I don't want you to leave. But it seems like you have two opportunities of a lifetime; 16lb sledge and possibility to work on a Romero film. Your friends will always be here, (unless something goes horribly awry) and the college isn't going anywhere. It's almost like you're at a fork in a road...
You could always look at it from a "life choices" perspective; which decision will you regret or value the most 20 years from now?
