Wait, you have to pay for the health insurance in Canada? I lived in the UK for 6 months on a tourist visa, and they sent me a national health insurance card... No payment required, no questions asked.

Hm. Well, I can't say for sure, but I suspect someone was paying - possibly the program you were with. My iMed is taken care of as part of my fees at the University, but, yes, I have to pay separately for MSP, the primary national health care.

There is no free lunch.
