update from the Kent farm: still no outgoing mail

I'm not sure twenty minutes of Smallville S7 have gone by without my having to say, "That's so messed up." And we're only halfway into the season. Considering where the bar was set to begin with, that's . . . quite something.

no small villes only small actors

I made it through season 6 and 7 and yeah...I tend to think of seasons 8-10 as an entirely different show. But I think I found season 6 the most messed up of all (Lex's treatment of Lana is so squicky, as is the writers' inability to treat Lana like a person. I mean, I don't like her either but I wouldn't wish what she goes through on my worst enemy).

I did, however, enjoy Oliver's introduction in season 6 quite a bit and found it was nice to give Lois something decent to do (which season 7 doesn't quite manage).

Yes, I think S6 is most messed up in terms of...deliberate mistreatment of people. S7's messed-up-ness is just more exclamation-worthy to me because it's crack-addled. Like Zor-El deciding to repopulate Earth with a starter set consisting of himself, his daughter, his nephew, and his sister-in-law.

oh totally. That whole episode was just....not right.

I should say, there's a ton of crack in later seasons, but you are right, it is definitely more the "fun" kind, rather than the kind that makes you want to kick the tv.

Yeah, and it's not like the previous seasons didn't have enough crack either! But I think I reached maximum crack saturation when Clark said, "In this crystal...is my mother's DNA." Clark was pretty much an Oedipal wreck already; one thing he never needed was his mother's DNA in a crystal! And yet his universe provided him with just that! Because it is a universe built on crack.

This comment thread was hilarious, although out of S7 I've only seen Ollie's ep and a few scattered clips from others. But I think the cracked-out-ness of SV is universal to all of its seasons in one way or another.

Can't wait to see what you think of S8-10! And did you ever finish the Creek?

Yes, through the reinvention and the confusingly repetitive arcs and the cast changes, SV's one constant is crack. Well, crack, and Tom Welling having good hair. Two constants.

I DID finish the Creek! I have seen every episode! Despite my pimper's promises, I feel Dawson never became a human being...but I realized, in the end, I would have been disappointed if he had. Everything else was satisfying.
