What do you need?
In lieu of DRAMA FREE THURSDAY this week, I wanted to try something different.
One of the things about this social networking thing is that we're REALLY good at the social and not so good at the networking part. We have this massive resource at hand and we rarely use it to the best of it's ability. So I'm going to try and change that a little and hopefully in the spirit of DFT create a place where people can share and interact with some positive and helpful information. Or maybe just a supportive word and a smile.
So I'm going to ask you to post what you need in the comments, and I'm going to ask that you read the comments to see where you can help.
DO's (examples):
- If you're grieving and you need some support. Post it here.
- If you're looking for work (i.e., fired, laid off or just looking) Give a summary of your skills. Link to your LinkedIn account. Mention the area and type of work you are looking to do. Post it here.
- If you or someone in your family is sick and you need emotional support or resources. Post it here.
- If you need some ideas on how to improve a website or drive traffic to it. Post it here.
- If you've written something you want people to see. Post it here.
- If you're feeling ugly and want someone to tell you you aren't. Post it here.
- If you just need someone to tell you it's gonna be alright. Post it here.
- You need resume help? Post it here.
DON'T's:
- Don't disparage someone else's request.
- Don't disparage ANYONE.
- Don't ask for money. That gets into an ethical area on my LJ that I don't want to touch.
Share with me. Share with my f-list and invite your friends to do the same.
If we do this right, someone will get the help they need. And if just one person does, I'll consider this a success.

I am seeking a position as a Senior Business Analyst/Project Manager/Solutions Architect. I'm currently consulting at a major children's publishing company specifically doing Business Analysis and Solutions Architecture work. I have over 20 years in the Information Technology area across a variety of business models and technology platforms. My most recent experience is in Publishing (mostly in Sales and Distribution) which has the identical fundamentals as Manufacturing. I'm looking for a position in the Northern/Central NJ and/or NYC area. More information/resume is available via my LinkedIn profile.
