OK...I'm totally geeking out

Allison, Gen and Linda know what a bibliophile I am. One of my favorite authors is Lori Foster; I've read EVERYTHING the woman has written and I joke that I would read the phone book if she wrote it.

She released a new book last week.

It was one of my reads that I tackled at the hospital. I actually liked the book (now after I discovered that I really love paranormal romance), since it takes quite a turn from the 3 books that preceed it. I rated it on my Goodreads list and wrote a review -- which is my New Year's resolution. I figured that I read enough of the reviews to determine if I should take a chance and read the book, the least I could do was reciprocate and hope that someone would find my review just as useful.

I really thought nothing of posting my review, until I got a response from LORI herself!!! Now, I knew that she was fan friendly, she posts on her message board all the time. Just to go out and respond to my review on another book site??? Well, I am geeking out!!!

My review for the above novel:
Lori Foster proves once again that she can tackle anything...case in point sci-fi/futuristic romance.

Followers of her SBC series have seen slices of Michael "Mallet" Manchester, his character growth preparing him for a novel of his own. It's nice to see his transformation from whiny pr*ck to little brother to leading man.

I really loved that she was "thinking outside of the box" for this one. We certainly could have had another I'm-training-for-the-belt-and-oops-I-fell-in-love stories (NOT that there's anything wrong with the other 3 books -- Hard to Handle remains one of my fave books), but she decided to go for a twist. And what a twist it is, complete with a matriarch, utopian society; I mean, where else will Mallet go to learn some manners? ;-)

True blue SBC series fans will probably scratch their heads at this one. IMHO, this novel could certainly stand on its own outside of the series, since it seems to break the mold from the other books.

Those fans who love continuing stories of the characters from the other novels, will be a bit saddened here. Simon and Dean have bit parts in the beginning and end. No matter for me, because this novel really lets Michael's character shine.

PS...there's a preview for #5 of the SBC series -- a story for Drew Black.

Her reply:
Thanks Jensicotte.
I'm so glad you liked it, and yes, "true blue SBC fans" are not liking it that this isn't set in the gym. :-) I hate that I've disappointed some readers.

Hugs to you!

Lori
